THE GATEWAY TOUR ANNOUNCES NEW COLLEGIATE TOUR
September 10, 2007

The Gateway Tour has just announced the inception of its new Collegiate Tour, debuting this holiday season with one event in Arizona and one event in Florida.

The Gateway Collegiate Tour has been formed to fill the need for the growing amount of collegiate golfers looking to improve their games outside of the college arena. Therefore, the Collegiate Tour will operate during student-athletes’ Holiday and Summer breaks, offering tournaments in both the Phoenix and West Palm Beach.

The inaugural 54 hole event will be held December 19-21, at The Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, AZ, followed by another 54 hole event, January 7-9, at Martin Downs C.C., in Palm City, FL. The Summer schedule will be announced in the coming months.

Entry into The Gateway Collegiate Tour is open to college students either on a college golf team, or those in the process of being recruited to play on one. As the Gateway Tour delves into the college arena for the first time, the Tour is excited to offer student-athletes the same professionally run golf tournaments on top-notch facilities that the pros have seen for the past 6 years.

The Gateway Tour has become the most successful developmental professional golf tour in existence, seeing over 25% of its members garner PGA or Nationwide Tour cards over the past two years. The Tour’s mission has been simple: To provide and environment where aspiring professional golfers can build the skills necessary to compete and succeed on the PGA Tour.

The Collegiate Tour’s mission is similar, striving to provide an environment where collegiate players can improve their games outside of the college arena in a highly competitive atmosphere, set under Championship quality conditions.

The first two events at The Wigwam Resort in Arizona and Martin Downs C.C. in Florida are sure to provide a great test for the initial Collegiate Tour events, seeing both fields face challenging tests of golf in Phoenix and West Palm Beach.
