History
The Gateway Collegiate Tour debuted in December, running one tournament in each of The Gateway Tour’s professional Series’ markets, Phoenix, AZ, and West Palm Beach, FL.
The Collegiate Tour was formed with the idea of offering collegiate players more opportunities to improve their golf games in a competitive environment, outside of the collegiate arena. As the professional side of our Tour has provided a proving and training ground for 123 total players who’ve earned PGA or Nationwide Tour status after playing on our Tour, The Gateway Collegiate Tour’s players will now have the same opportunities as the pros to help their games improve and mature as they move through their collegiate careers.
The Collegiate Tour’s mission is simple: To provide an environment where collegiate players can improve their games outside of the college arena in a highly competitive atmosphere, set under Championship quality conditions.
As with the professional side of our Tour, the venues and course set-ups of The Collegiate Tour will be set to the highest collegiate standards, testing players’ games with good golf courses and difficult pins.
The Gateway Collegiate Tour is unique because it is the only non-traveling tour in existence for collegiate players. As it parallels the markets from which our professional Series are based, Phoenix, AZ and West Palm Beach, FL; the Tour will offer the most desirable venues to its players in two of the most popular golf destinations in the United States.
To compliment players’ breaks from their schools and teams, The Collegiate Tour will play during the holiday and summer breaks in both Arizona and Florida. As the Collegiate Tour continues to grow, so will the schedule of play throughout the year, seeing the Tour expand in number of tournaments and possible venues in coming seasons.
The stellar reputation of how the professional side of The Gateway Tour operates is one in which we’ve worked hard to accomplish since the Tour’s inception in 2001. Over the past 6 seasons, we’ve honed this operation and continue to improve it daily to make our Tour the best it can be for our membership and future members alike.
As we embark on moving into the collegiate arena, we are excited to provide this opportunity to eager college players wishing to improve their games away from their respective teams. Therefore, we wish the best to all of our current and future players, and thank all of those involved for choosing The Gateway Collegiate Tour.
